My Superfood Green Juice Recipe… Without a Juicer

Good morning everyone! Today, I wanted to give you the recipe to my morning green juice. The days of the celery juice trend appear to have gone… but I think that it has, instead, quietly integrated itself in to our every day lives. More and more people have incorporated vegetable juices in to their diet and it looks like it has become normalized.

The only issue with juicing is that it can’t be the only way you incorporate greens in to your diet. You miss out on a lot of the fibre and nutrients that comes with the pulp. But, the up side to juicing your fruits and vegetables is that, if you have a proper diet, it can be a wonderful boost to your day. I like to make my green juice in the morning, after my workout, because it makes my body feel energized. I sip on it while I make my breakfast and it’s a comfortable way to get my digestion started before I eat anything heavy. So, what makes this a superfood green juice? The superfood element comes from the other things I put in it besides veggies.

Tropeaka is an Australian brand that sells plant-based protein powders, superfood powders, teas, BCAA’s, etc. What I love about this company is how transparent they are in their ingredients and the fact that their vegan protein powders don’t taste grainy. I moved away from whey protein a few years ago because I’m lactose intolerant and the whey protein was actually making me feel sluggish and heavy after my workouts.

After discovering the Tropeaka brand through my favourite health and fitness influencer, Sarah’s Day, I was an immediate fan and haven’t looked back since. Just note that the products are coming all the way from Australia, so the shipping price is steep for us Canadians. I’ll place a large order twice a year and that’ll last me a long time. I prefer to add two different “green” powders in to my juice for the added health benefits. I don’t own a mechanical juicer, so this is how I make my green juice without one!

Start your day in a way that makes you feel your best! Try this recipe out and then tweak it, depending on your preference.

Superfood Green Juice:

Start with washing all of your veggies before cutting them up and throwing them in the blender. I would suggest cutting off the ends of the celery stalks and cucumber. And, making sure you take off the celery leaves beforehand because they can be quite bitter. Then, you’re going to squeeze the juice in to the blender from the lemon. TIP: Squeeze the juice over your other hand so that you can catch all of the seeds to ensure none of them get in to the blender. Add your water, Tropeaka powders and BLEND.

When I moved, I didn’t bring a cheese cloth or nut milk bag with me. Instead, I have a giant strainer. I place that over a very large bowl and pour the juice over the strainer. I allow the it to fall through on its own before getting in there with my hands and squeezing out as much green juice as I can. By the end, you’ll ideally have a dry ball of leftover pulp. And, the consistency will remind you of dry, compact sand. Delicious, I know. If you’d like to make it sweeter, I would suggest adding in pieces of apple or pineapple. You can save the leftover pulp to add to smoothies, stews, or you can add it to the soil in your garden!

Pour your juice into a glass and enjoy!
